StormCrow
StormCrow was formed back in the distant days of 1987 by Chris McAneary (bass / vocals) Rick Huddleston (vocals / guitar / mandolin) and Mark Hadlett (vocals / guitar).

From 1996 StormCrow became Mark (vocals/strings) and Amanda (vocals/drums) Hadlett along with a variety of wonderful friends who guested from time to time.

Our early recordings were released on cassette but were eventually amalgamated on CD, the CD was called Chronicles and consisted of two recorded tracks from the first ever line up, along with the "StormCrow" and "Face The Future" cassette recordings. Sadly this is no longer available.
The first album recorded for CD was "Crow Circle". Named after a standing stone circle which Mark and Amanda helped to build in North Yorkshire. Recorded in a stone built shed, in Sleights. We hope to re-release this sometime in the future.

"Celtic Twilight" was released in 2005.
"Here Be Demons", a live role play themed album, was released in 2006.
The song Gargoyle is featured on the album John Barleycorn Reborn a compilation of English Dark folk music released by Cold Spring/Woven Wheat Whispers on 1 August 2007. This album has since been released on vinyl.
'Behind the Mask' was released on 31st July 2009 at the Station Hotel, Loftus.
"Tales of the Crow" was released in 2011 with a fuller sound thanks to assistance from a fab line-up of friends.

The "Cliff Land" album, released in 2012.
History is all around us, often hidden in the corners and crevices of life. Cliff land is the name given to a chunk of North Yorkshire from above Whitby to the Tees. Tales recall a mediaeval castle, which boasted to be the largest in Northern Europe, only to be demolished by its owner. Smugglers abound along with a haunted seaside theatre. Stand out songs are ‘Here Be Dragons’, Smuggler’s Inn and ‘Palace of Shadows’.

"Crow's Nest" was released in May 2013.
The Pirate album! Tracks cover buccaneers from Blackbeard to Henry Morgan. Mark loved researching this project. Taken from texts like ‘A General History of Pyrates’ purported to have been written by Daniel Defoe. Originally published in two parts in the 1720’s. It’s thought that many pirates were interviewed in gaol awaiting execution. Another text was ‘Piratas de la America’ by Alexandre Exquemelin published in 1681. Stand out songs are ‘Curious Case of Murder’, ‘Ghost Ship’ and ‘Lure of the Sea’.

"Sacred Oddities" was released in November 2014
The album with the odd title. Predominantly a Pagan album, this was partly inspired by Mark and Amanda’s trip to Wales. While recording as guests on a project by Sandwitch, the pair visited Pentre Ifan. This inspired a song and the flow of the album. Stand out songs are ‘Imbolc’, ‘Pentre Ifan’ and ‘Saturnalia’.

"Geist" was released 31 October 2016.
A friend noticed Mark’s penchant for ghost stories and suggested a themed album. Stories cover everything from Lumley Castle’s Algitha, who is said to haunt the place to this day, to ghostly Roman legionaries. One song is written from personal experience, when Mark was mistaken for a ghost in Lumley Castle. Stand out songs are ‘Hand of Lady Gerard’ and ‘Screamed’.

"Beware" was released 2018.
Pirates and a strange but true naval battle feature on this album. ‘Muddy Waters’ is a song about the infamous Black Bart, Bartholomew Roberts, a Welsh pirate. Another song was inspired by an off beat film featuring some Vampires that lived together, in house, in modern day New Zealand. Stand out songs are ‘Hard Cheese’, ‘In the Dark’ and ‘Muddy Waters’.

"Wolf" was released May 2024.
The latest album from the band, recorded at Dan Pettitt’s studio in Saltburn. The subjects are as diverse as mediaeval ‘naughty’ nuns, highwaywomen and ecology. A hobgoblin rears its head. It even includes werewolves. 13 of the songs are new with ‘Loups Garoux’ (French for shape-shifter) being a considerably reworked oldie. A great mix of folklore, stories and social commentary. Stand out songs are ‘Black Path’, ‘Penultimate Day’ and ‘Wolf at the Door’.

Live, StormCrow tends to go out as a duo. Having fun and delivering upbeat original folk wherever we go.
